About this site

This site has been created by a group of family lawyers based in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, with the support of Her Honour Judge Williscroft and Her Honour Judge Gillespie and the Local Family Justice Boards for each area. It is not an official site of His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunal Service or the Judiciary.

The site is aimed at people who may be involved in a case in the Family Court in any area of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire (Derby, Chesterfield, Nottingham and Mansfield).  It sets out the range of help that is available locally, and provides basic information about how the Family Court works.

The site is mainly aimed at the sorts of cases where parents can’t agree on arrangements for their children after separation, or where separating couples are trying to sort out their financial arrangements, but there is also information that will be useful to people involved in cases brought to court by social services because of child protection concerns.

Nothing on this site is intended to be legal advice and you should not treat it as legal advice. We’ve linked to sites that we think will be useful and reliable but we can’t guarantee they will be up to date or accurate.

We are indebted to the generous sponsorship of the following organisations that have enabled the funding of this site to be made possible;

Bhatia Best Solicitors
Banner Jones Solicitors
Derwent Chambers
Foys Solicitors
Hawley and Rodgers Solicitors
KCH Garden Square Chambers
Miles and Cash Solicitors
Rothera Bray Solicitors
Stephensons Solicitors
Sills & Betteridge Solicitors
St Mary’s Family Law Chambers

In future small donations will be needed to renew the maintenance of the site every 3 years. If you wish to make a contribution please contact any of the website team listed below. Any surplus funds will be applied to the Transparency Project who are the hosts and licensees of this website.

The Transparency Project is a charity whose aims are to advance the education of the public in the subject of family law and its administration, including the family justice system in England and Wales and the work of the family courts, in particular but not exclusively through the provision of balanced, accurate and accessible information about the work of family courts and the facilitating of public discussions and debates which encompass a range of viewpoints.
